GABE HAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY
Charlotte and David were getting married (they have since been married, find the blog post HERE). They needed engagement photos of course. We met up at Hickory Hill Park in Iowa City to get some photos.
I grew up a few blocks away from Hickory Hill, and used to ride my bike there daily. I knew what spots would be good for getting the photos.
We had determined a spot to meet, but as luck would have it, there was an event at the park that took over most of the areas I wanted to use. I guess I should have checked the park calendar.
That was not going to stop us getting these two their photos though. We met at a playground away from the commotion and got to business.
I always keep in mind that most people don't have a camera in their face on a daily basis, and it takes a few minutes for them to warm up to the change. We did a couple looks to get them comfortable in front of the camera. They were naturals, and it didn't take long for them to really get into the session.
We got some looks at the playground, then went to a new spot.
That spot happened to be where David had proposed. No complaints here.
There were a few (ok a lot) less leaves on the trees, but we tried to recreate the proposal as best we could. I think it came out great. We got a couple more pictures and that was a wrap. Of course, we had to do one last pose.
Thanks for reading, and there will be more next week.
